Hi, I’m Tess
I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, therapist, mother of two boys, wife, sister, friend, and person on this journey to living a values-based and intentional life.
I’ve worked in the mental health field for more than a decade and have spent the past six years as a private practice therapist licensed in both Virginia and Colorado. I began my clinical work with a focus on trauma and eventually found my way to the work that feels most meaningful to me: supporting women through the many seasons of motherhood.
My years as a trauma therapist taught me the importance of understanding where we’ve been and how our experiences have shaped us. But they’ve also taught me that healing is about more than understanding our past. It’s about deciding how we want to live moving forward.
Today, my approach is rooted in values-based counseling. There is absolutely space in therapy to be heard, supported, and validated—but I believe therapy should also invite us to look inward, challenge ourselves, recognize our own strength, and create meaningful change.
In our work together, we might explore what truly matters to you, where your life has drifted away from those values, and what it would look like to come back to them. We’ll make room for the hard things while also paying attention to resilience, gratitude, joy, relationships, community, faith or connection to something greater, and the parts of your life that are already good and worth nurturing.
I work best with women who are curious about themselves and motivated to grow—not because they need to become someone entirely different, but because they want to live more intentionally as the person they already are. You don’t need to have everything figured out. You just need to be willing to look within, get curious, and take meaningful steps toward the life you want to create.
Faith has become an increasingly meaningful part of my own life and the way I think about what it means to live well. I believe we weren’t meant to walk through life alone, and that peace can come from recognizing that we don’t have to carry or control everything ourselves. For clients who desire it, I’m happy to make space for conversations about God, faith, prayer, purpose, and how your beliefs shape the way you want to live.
I believe some of the most meaningful change begins when we stop asking only, “Why do I feel this way?” and begin asking, “What matters to me—and how do I want to live?”
